DEALING WITH ANXIETY

Anxiety is very common during an emergency event such as a flooding and evacuation. This is a normal response to a very stressful situation. Talking to people and helping others can be both therapeutic and useful.

If you need further support for yourself or for others:

  • call your general practice, after-hours GP practice or Healthline on 0800 611 116
  • free-call or text 1737 to talk to a trained counsellor
  • call Rural Support Trust on 0800 787 254 to talk to someone who understands the pressures of rural life.
  • in an emergency, call 111.

See tips on getting enough sleep during challenging times.

See advice for explaining to children what is going on – how to talk to them and listen to them.
